Here’s something different. I got sent this because my friend is in the video. I really like it. Not sure about the weird wooden dollar/euro sign though…
Pop Songs use the same 4 chords. Biggest mashup ever IMHO
here’s another rant
Amazes me how much artists recycle aspects of music. It’s fantastic. Another example - the “Amen Break” drum loop features regularly throughout the genre I know and love as jungle.
k.flay - paper planes & spitballs feat. MC Lars (sampling from m.i.a.’s paper planes)
Something a bit different. I listened to k.flay’s entire album Mashed Potatoes this morning. Not for me, but I like the way she has re-worked so many different tunes. Samples include black eyed peas, red hot chili peppers, usher, m.i.a. and paramore.
What is cool is that the whole album can be downloaded here, and that @kflay focuses on selling merchandise over death by DRM. And look - it makes the fans happy.
I saw The Ronaldos live on Easter weekend. Just 4 guys playing their favourite tunes in their own style. No surrender, just played exactly how they thought each song should go.
They were incredible.
Ron (vocals and guitar) used to be in T’Pau. Remember them? Biggest hit was China In Your Hand.
Anyway, after spending a week with my eyes glued to HereToNetwork site copy the word “real” was still reverberating around in my head - this is exactly how I’d describe the gig. Real. There I was in a tiny pub in Shropshire, drinking real ale and listening to real music. Not an electronic instrument in sight, and old plastic bottles filled with rice distributed (by the band) throughout the audience to crowd source some percussion.
I was blown away by the whole experience.

I was going to reblog this with some sort of witty remark. But I don’t think I need to…
